Feature · Persistent Memory

AI that remembers who you are.

LumiChats saves important facts across all your sessions. Your projects, preferences, and learning history persist and are recalled automatically — so you never have to re-introduce yourself.

Every AI conversation starts from zero — the model has no memory of your previous sessions, your projects, your preferences, or your learning history. LumiChats Memory System changes this. Important information from your conversations is saved as persistent memories and recalled automatically when relevant, so the AI already knows your context before you start typing.

How it works

01

Memories are created automatically

LumiChats identifies important facts from your conversations — project names, preferred coding languages, study subjects, personal preferences — and saves them as structured memories.

02

Memories are categorised

Each memory is labelled: Project (ongoing work), Learning (topics you're studying), Experiment (things you're testing), or Personal Preference (how you like to work). Categorisation makes retrieval faster and more accurate.

03

Memories are recalled on relevance

When you start a new conversation, LumiChats retrieves the most relevant memories using semantic search (vector embeddings) and injects them into the AI's context. The AI already knows your background.

04

You control your memories

Open the Memory Panel to view, edit, or delete any saved memory. You decide what the AI remembers and what it forgets. No hidden data.

05

Memories persist across sessions

Memories survive browser closes, device changes, and model switches. They're stored in your LumiChats account and available on every device you use.

Real use cases

Long-term projects

Working on a semester project for months? Save your project brief, architecture decisions, and progress as memories. The AI picks up where you left off every session.

Study preferences

Tell LumiChats you're studying computer science at a particular level. Future study sessions automatically calibrate to your background without you specifying it every time.

Code style preferences

Prefer TypeScript over JavaScript? Always use async/await? Want brief comments, not verbose ones? Save these as preferences and every code response respects them automatically.

Research continuity

Doing ongoing research over weeks? Save key facts, arguments you've evaluated, and sources you've used. The AI references your research history instead of starting fresh.
