From March 13 to March 27, 2026, Anthropic is doubling usage limits for Claude across Free, Pro, Max, and Team plans during off-peak hours. The promotion is automatic — no opt-in required, no code to enter. You simply get twice the messages in the standard rolling five-hour window when you use Claude outside the peak demand period. Critically, the bonus usage does not count toward your weekly limit. This is genuinely extra capacity, not borrowed from future allowances.
With 5 days remaining on the promotion, here is everything you need to know to make the most of it before it expires on March 27 at 11:59 PM Pacific Time.
When Do the Doubled Limits Apply?
| Region | Off-Peak Window (doubled limits active) | Peak (normal limits) |
|---|---|---|
| US East Coast (ET) | 2 PM–8 AM ET weekdays; all weekend | 8 AM–2 PM ET weekdays |
| US West Coast (PT) | 11 AM–5 AM PT weekdays; all weekend | 5 AM–11 AM PT weekdays |
| India (IST) | 6:30 PM–12:30 AM IST and again from 12:30 AM onward — effectively most of the Indian day | 12:30 AM–6:30 PM IST (US morning) |
| UK (GMT) | 6 PM–12 PM GMT weekdays; all weekend | 12 PM–6 PM GMT weekdays |
| Weekends (all regions) | 24/7 — doubled limits all day Saturday and Sunday | None — full 2x applies all weekend |
Pro Tip: For Indian users: the US peak window (8 AM–2 PM ET) maps to approximately 6:30 PM–12:30 AM IST. That means the 2x limits are active for most of the Indian working and study day — from morning until early evening IST. If you are studying or working during Indian day hours, you are almost certainly in the off-peak 2x window.
What the 2x Promotion Covers
- Claude on web (claude.ai) — the main interface most users use.
- Claude mobile app (iOS and Android) — the same doubled limits apply.
- Claude Code — the terminal-first coding agent. The best time to run long agentic coding sessions.
- Claude Cowork — the desktop workflow automation tool.
- Claude for Excel and Claude for PowerPoint — the Office integrations.
- What is NOT covered: Enterprise plans — those have dedicated capacity through negotiated contracts.
What to Do With the Extra Capacity
For students
- Run long Study Mode sessions: upload your full textbook chapter (not just a few pages) and work through it comprehensively while you have expanded capacity.
- Generate a full set of practice questions from multiple chapters in a single session — something normally hit by limits.
- Request detailed essay feedback on multiple drafts in the same session without hitting the cap mid-review.
- Ask for concept explanations in multiple styles: once with analogies, once with mathematical formalism, once with diagrams described in text.
For developers
- Run long agentic coding sessions with Claude Code — multi-file refactors, full feature implementations, comprehensive test suites.
- Process large codebases: upload your entire project and ask for a comprehensive architecture review you would normally spread across multiple sessions.
- Use Claude Opus 4.6 for complex reasoning tasks — the doubled limits apply to the highest-tier model too, making it economical to use Opus for extended analysis.
What Happens After March 27
On March 28, all limits return to their standard levels. The bonus usage never counted against your weekly limits, so there is no 'debt' to pay. Your plan and billing remain exactly as before. If you discover during the promotion that you regularly need more capacity than your current plan provides, Anthropic's plans run from free (5 messages/day) through Pro ($20/month), Max 5x ($100/month), and Max 20x ($200/month).
